Ways to Gain Six Pack Abs

By submitproductratings at 2009-07-29 23:35:46
There are still many fitness trainers that believe the best way to get six pack abs is by doing many repetitions of crunches and sit ups on a daily basis. They go on to believe that it is all about focusing on one set of muscles and targeting that set of muscles with several sets of the same type of exercise routines.

Just like any other muscle group such as your biceps, triceps and pecs, the abdominal muscles can also be over trained. It therefore makes sense that that same exercise procedure should be applied to your abs as you would to your other muscle groups;

Don’t waste your time with ab exercises. It’s actually quite possible to develop six pack abs without doing any ab exercises at all. You see, developing a six-pack is about burning off the layer of fat that is currently covering your abdominals. Countless crunches and similar exercises to very little to burn this fat away.

Six Pack Abs can easily be developed with a combination of Interval training, targeted exercises as well as supportive exercise.

Nutrition is a major factor when it comes to developing six pack abs. You need to have a diet that is specifically designed to make sure you're not piling on extra body fat to your abdominal area. Instead of eating three meals a day, eat six smaller meals made of fist-sized portions. Get enough quality protein daily. Protein has a high thermic effect so you burn calories digesting it. Plus it's a building block for maintaining and building lean muscle, which is an important factor for controlling your metabolism.

Obviously, stronger and bigger abdominal muscles are necessary to achieve the abdominal look you desire. But stop relying on "isolation" exercises like crunches and leg raises to get the job done. A dumbbell workout puts emphasis on the core muscles with every exercise. This means every exercise is an ab exercise.

The concept is simple, but putting it into action is not. It will take dedication, willpower, patience and time to get a six pack but in the end, the effort is well worth it. The most effective way of flattening your stomach is a combination of strength training (especially on mid-section), cardiovascular exercise (some workouts), and stable blood sugar.

Cardio sessions are critical to achieving a great set of six pack abs. Abdominal muscles can be toned, but if there is a layer of body fat covering them, it won't matter. Burning off excess body fat through intense cardio sessions at least three to four times a week will ensure that your toned abs will make their debut.

Second and most important is the fact that the abs help keep your form stabilized. By working your stomach muscles first, they will grow fatigued by the time you work your larger muscle groups, decreasing the effectiveness of the latter workouts.

Another important point is that not everyone will be able to reach that six pack goal. Yes, this is unfortunate. However, the body's genetics definitely play a major part in getting ripped abs. A certain portion of people simply will not be able to get their body fat percentage low enough to show the six pack.
